How to choose a detailing service when you do not know the names of the treatments

You do not need to know words like correction, decontamination or coating. Start with the goal, the condition of the car and your expectations. We show what to ask a studio before a quote.

Describe the car and its condition in plain words

When preparing an enquiry, give the make and model if you know them and briefly describe how the car is used and what you notice. Is it new, does it have ordinary signs of daily driving, or do you see clear scratches, stains or dirt? You do not need to diagnose the cause. A description of what you see and the result that would satisfy you is enough.

It also helps to say what you expect and what you do not: whether looks matter most, practical care, a specific part of the car, or whether you simply need a consultation. A realistic goal lets the specialist explain what can be done and what needs an assessment under the lamp first.

Ask about the scope, not just the name

Before choosing a service, ask which parts of the car the work covers, what preparation looks like, how long the car stays in the studio and how to care for it afterwards. Ask for the limits: what the service does not include and what the final result depends on. If two offers sound similar, compare the list of work, not the name.

Photos help in the first conversation, but a photo does not show scratch depth, earlier repairs or how the paint behaves in different light.
