Gtechniq ceramic coating
A ceramic coating is a hard, glass-like layer that bonds chemically with the paint and replaces wax for years. Water and dirt slide off it, salt and bird droppings do not etch the paint, and the colour gains a depth that ordinary polishing cannot give. As a Gtechniq accredited studio we apply Crystal Serum Ultra (manufacturer-declared protection up to 9 years) and Crystal Serum Light (up to 5 years), usually with an EXO top coat for hydrophobics, and we service coatings applied here and elsewhere.

Gtechniq ceramic coating
What a ceramic coating really does, and what it does not
A coating keeps the paint clean longer, makes washing easier, protects against chemicals and sun, and gives a gloss that lasts for years. It will not stop a stone or a key scratch: that is what PPF is for. For cars that do motorway miles we therefore suggest film on the front and a coating over everything.
Before a coating the paint must be perfect, because the coating seals in whatever is left underneath. A new car usually needs light correction of dealer holograms, a used car a full correction. This preparation is usually a bigger part of the work than the application itself.

- Two-stage wash, chemical and mechanical decontamination

- Protection against stone impacts and deep scratches (that is PPF's job)

- Brush washes after application (we recommend hand washing)

How the work goes
- 01
Paint assessment
Under the lamp we check the paint and measure its thickness. We agree the level of correction and the coating variant.
- 02
Preparation
Washing, decontamination, paint correction and panel wipe. This stage decides how long the coating lasts.
- 03
Application and curing
The coating goes on panel by panel at the right temperature. The car stays in the hall for initial curing.
- 04
Handover and advice
We show the result under the lamp and hand over the care card: first wash after 7 days, coating service once a year.
