How to prepare your car for a visit to a detailing studio

What to settle before handing over the car: scope, keys, personal items, photos, collection. A short list that makes the studio visit free of surprises.

Confirm the scope and time, take your personal items, mention earlier paint repairs and agree how keys are handed over. You do not need to wash the car, washing is part of the job. If you have no time to drive over, ask about trailer collection.

Settle the scope and how the car is handed over

Before the visit confirm which service was agreed, at what time and for how long the car needs to stay. If the form lets you pick a preferred date, wait for confirmation: sending an enquiry is not a booking. Agree where the car is handed over, a contact in case plans change and how it is collected.

If the studio asked for photos or extra information, send only what is needed for the job. Mention earlier repairs, known damage and unusual parts. Do not try to mask marks the studio should see: they show under the lamp anyway, and knowing about them changes the choice of polishes and pads.

Take personal items and check what is in the car

Before handing over the car, take valuable and personal items that are not needed for the service. Check the glovebox, boot and holders. If some equipment has to stay in the car, tell the staff. Hand over keys the way agreed with the studio.

For interior detailing we remove seats and take out carpets, so things under the seats and in door pockets end up in a box we return at collection. Better if those are your things, not surprises.

Make a short record and describe your expectations

You can take a few photos of the car before handing it over, to remember its condition and the items left inside. We document the car at check-in with photos and go over them with you under the lamp. Photos do not replace a joint look at visible damage or confirmation of the scope.

Say what matters most to you. Point out the spots that worry you and the result you expect. If you do not know whether a mark can be removed, ask: under the lamp we show what polishing will remove and what needs another route.

At collection ask about aftercare

After the work, ask for a short rundown of what was done, the care advice and the period in which to avoid certain things, for example no washing for the first week after a coating. The specific advice depends on the service and products, which is why you get it from us on a care card.

Before leaving, check that you have your personal items, all keys and the agreed documents. If in doubt, raise it right away with the person releasing the car.
